Selectman Nelson supports the Cineplex

February 27, 2013

Please read this article, it glosses over the ‘support’ the movie theatre has in the town. We should write to the globe and give them our view.

Thank you,

Suman

Selectman Nelson supports the Cineplex

February 25, 2013

Selectman Nelson announced he supports the cineplex.

If you know him, please ask him to reconsider. The high level of support is at odd with his past actions.

When asked why he is in favor of breaking the agreement he talked about tax revenue.

Another good question asked of him is how could he be in favor of it when the article has not even been filed yet.

Selectman MacKendrick opposes Cineplex

February 25, 2013

Selectman MacKendrick opposes the Cineplex and he is to be commended for this. We asked him to demonstrate the same level of commitment to making sure this does not pass, as he did in 2007 to have the development rezoned.

One of his concerns is how this issue will tear the town apart.

If you see him please thank him

Selectmen Meeting Brief Summary

February 25, 2013

Thanks to all of the people who were able to attend the Selectmen’s meeting. Ted Tye spoke for approx 35 minutes.

Key points what they are looking for
1. 8 screens , 100 -125 people per screen, Total of 800 to 1,000 seats

2. The proposed cineplex would occupy 45,000 sq ft.
Ted pointed out that they expect the development to open late August

We pointed out.
1. A cineplex has been turned down twice, once with 81% plurality
2. In Feb 2007 they gave up the idea of 16, then 10 screens and said it could be successful

3. When they came back in 2008, they only asked for 360 seats and 38,000 sq ft
4. One speaker mentioned that wikipedia defines a multiplex is a movie theater complex with multiple screens, typically six, ten, or more screens

MacKendrick opposes the idea of a multiplex

Selectmen Nelson supports the multiplex but did not give a reason to justify breaking the agreement with then citizens of Lynnfield.

More details later.

February 25, 2013

Reminder

Board of Selectmen Meeting Monday Feb. 25, 7pm Lynnfield High School Media Center to discuss changes to the zoning laws to allow a cinema multiplex.

Two reasons to oppose:
1. Not having a cinema was part of the agreement to rezone the property six years ago.
2. It would be bad for the town.
