Town Meeting Notes

April 30, 2013

The Town Meeting completed in one evening, passing the 43 million dollar budget with little controversy.

Two note of interest though.

First, when the town says that the golf courses are profitable they do not include the approximately 500,000 a year in debt that is paid. The debt is for the 12 million dollars that was paid for Reedy Meadow.

Second, in a hallway conversation, we learned that Ted Tye was at the Rotary Club meeting talking about the cineplex. If anyone hears about the coffee hours starting let us know.

At the Lynnfield Business Coalition candidates night, all four candidates for Selectman said they would have the selectman meeting agenda posted and sent through the Town’s website. This is a capability that has existed for several years but only the planning board utilizes this capability.

It was a pleasant surprise when last evening’s Selectman’s agenda
a

rrived in my email in the afternoon. Good job by the Selectman.

Now if they can just get all the other boards and commissions to use it, perhaps there will be more citizen involvement.

The town pays money each year for the website, so they should use it.

If you want to sign up for the agendas and alerts, just go to

Election Day results

April 8, 2013

We will publish the selectmen and school committee races as soon as we know them and will publish full results as soon as they are available. We will publish them on www.topics01940.org

Race results are usually available by 9:00 PM and full results by 9:30

It will be interesting to see who is elected chair of the Board of Selectman. It is usually the person who is up for re-election. In this case it would be either Kennedy or Crawford, neither who has served on the Board before.
