CVS on Route 1 in Lynnfield

Last Thursday evening, CVS meet with residents of the Salem Street and Route 1 area to discuss rezoning some residential land and add it to an existing business parcel in order to have a CVS located at the intersection of Route 1 and Salem street.

Lots of discussion of:

  1. the expansion of business zoning into a residential neighborhood?
  2. would there be a buffer zone and how big?
  3. how would additional traffic generated by a drive through impact an already overburdened intersection be handled.?
  4. Who would pay for traffic improvements?

More meetings to be held before the April Town Meeting where any rezoning would have to be approved by 2/3 of those present.

From my perspective, CVS representatives seemed very receptive to comments and ideas from the attendees. Something is going to go there. Bridgewell is selling so it’s just a question of who and what. If it’s not CVS, who seems to very much want to be a good neighbor, it will be someone else.

NO NO NO! Traffic is already horrible on Walnut Street
